CHICAGO, July 7 (UPI) — Grain futures closed higher on the Chicago Board of Trade Thursday as the dollar index dipped slightly, down 0.15 percent.
Corn was up 1 1/4 to up 7, soybeans were up 14 1/2 to up 20 1/4, wheat was up 2 1/4 to up 13 1/4 and oats were off 4 to off 4 1/2.
Corn futures rose modestly with hot weather in the forecast for the Midwest and weekly ethanol production reportedly up more than 5 percent compared to the same week a year ago. Wheat prices rose as production in France was pegged at more than 10 percent less than 2010, due to drought. Soybeans found support from tightness in the corn market, which could increase demand for alternative livestock feeds.
