WASHINGTON, June 25 (UPI) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Honda portable generators with hazard labels printed in Japanese.

About 2,500 generators were imported from China by American Honda Motor Co. of Torrance, Calif., and sold nationwide from January 2011 through March 2011 for $2,250 to $2,890.

Hazard labels attached to the batteries are printed in Japanese, creating inadequate warnings for most U.S. consumers.

The generators included in the recall have model numbers EM4000SX, EM5000SXK3 or EM6500SXK2.

Consumers were advised to contact a Honda dealer to install the correct labels free of charge.
