NEW YORK, July 5 (UPI) — Crude oil prices in New York broke away from a holding pattern Tuesday to reach $97 per barrel after the Fourth of July holiday.
In a short trading week, West Texas Intermediate crude gained about $2 to hit $97.03 per barrel. Traders through the week will look at U.S. factory orders data and June figures for U.S. employment.
Home heating oil prices lost 0.36 cents to reach $2.953 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices shed 0.32cents to $2.9742 per gallon.
Henry Hub natural gas prices lost 2.6 cents to $4.337 per million British thermal units.
At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline fell slightly to $3.562 per gallon from Monday’s $3.565, AAA said.
