WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of S. Rothschild & Co. girls’ coats due to a strangulation hazard.
About 13,500 coats were imported from Guatemala by S. Rothschild & Co. of New York and sold nationwide from September 2006 through September 2009 for between $70 and $100.
The coats have detachable capes with drawstrings that pose a threat of strangulation, the commission said.
The coats, sold in pink, blue, red and vanilla, have capes of faux fur or with faux fur lining.
The capes were sold in charcoal and vanilla.
Consumers were advised to remove the drawstring from the cap or detach — and not use — the cape that comes with the coat. Consumers can also return the cape to S. Rothschild for a free repair.
Consumers can call 800-223-2664 for information.
