Get the best from renting

If you’re either thinking of going into business or already have a venture up and running then one of the main considerations is always going to be where you base it. While many start-ups, freelancers and one-man band operations are often happy to begin their business venture perhaps working from a spare bedroom, study or even the garage, this is often a short-term concept.

After all, working from home is all well and good, but it isn’t for everyone as it can be quite a solitary lifestyle and there’s not a great deal of opportunity for networking. What’s more, there can be a lot of interruptions from family members too, which isn’t too great for productivity either. In addition, there is the limitation of working in a small room, which probably has few traditional office style features.

Move on up
Thanks to the current economic climate though it is a boom time for anyone who wants to take the plunge and rent desk space in prime locations throughout the UK. London, in particular, is a hotbed of activity on the esk space rental front and rather than spending hours searching for ‘office space W1’ on the internet, it’s now possible to use specific desk space rental comparison sites in order to track down your ideal desk.
Renting a desk in an office complex makes good sense for a lot of reasons, because it’ll probably come very competitively priced, the contracts are usually flexible and on a rolling month-by-month basis and it’ll also get you out of your tiny room at home. That alone means you’ll instantly be able to maximise your networking opportunities too, meaning that more business can be generated.

What to expect
Desk rentals have become increasingly popular in the last few years, as people have realised that it’s vital to have a higher-level presence in the business community. Working from home can be fine some of the time, but having a desk in an established office complex adds an element of style to your venture and prime office space in the west end is likely to impress potential clients no end.

Of course, going down the desk rental route will bring limited extras with it. You’ll get the desk, naturally, and more than likely there’ll be high-speed broadband internet, but you’ll need to turn up with your laptop and a coffee to make the picture complete. Having said that, some desk rental schemes do have other basic amenities included, although if you’re looking for more sophisticated options then it could be worth checking out office sharing deals whereby receptionists, post and IT support often come as part of the package.

Winning formula
With prices for desk rentals now more competitive than ever, it’s a great time to take the next step and move into a workspace of your own. You’ll probably find that it gives your business a whole new outlook. Better still, because those contracts are relatively short-term then you’re not going to be stuck in a location permanently, so you can always move on if you feel a new desk in another building might be better suited to your needs.
